This is my new favorite shot because it's very different then the other pictures I’ve taken. I was invited to join our school at the Semi State Finals to take pictures, so I got to miss school to take pictures, it was a dream come true. But I wasn't allowed on the bridge, (it divides the pool in two so it's 25 meters) where people usually cheer and take pictures, so I had to find different ways to take pictures. And the judges were on the sides of the pool. So this forced me out of the box.
I started getting shots from behind the blocks. And using different ideas. One that seemed to bring some real nice pictures was holding the camera low to the ground and aiming it at the swimmer and taking the shot as he dived off the block.
This really was so much cooler then anything I had did. You'd get the crowd, the water, everything too because I was using my wide angle lens verses my telephoto that you always see at sport activities. It was a much different view of the swimmer then what most see. There was times when I’d get very wet, but I didn't care, this was my last chance this season. I even delayed the start of a relay because I was too close to the blocks. But like I said, I didn't care. Had to get the shot.
